The governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated the team on yet another exciting performance.
In a statement, Obaseki said, “I would like to express my sincere congratulations to our beloved Super Eagles for yet another outstanding performance in the ongoing 2024 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).” The team defeated Guinea Bissau 1-0 and secured seven points, which allowed them to advance to the competition’s knockout stage.

Similar to this, the Edo State Football Association (Edo FA) honored and recognized Super Eagles players Ahmed Musa and Victor Osimhen, who are Edo natives, with a special ceremony in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Representatives from Edo FA gave both players mementos as a token of appreciation during the quick ceremony that took place at the Pullman Abidjan Hotel.
